Like everything else in 2020, the Carolina Beach Music Awards weekend is no exception. Below you will find information pertaining to the awards weekend November 14th and 15th. You should've received a couple of emails from the Carolina Beach Music Academy earlier today concerning the 2020 ballots. We received our first message at 1:00PM advising that the ballot links would be sent later today. We received our ballots shortly after 5:00PM so be sure to check your email account. Also be sure to check your spam or junk folders and you can also add "vote@cbmaballot" to your trusted email address list. Good luck to all of the nominees, it has certainly been a tough year with many changes however the Beach Music community is strong and hopefully by 2021 we'll be back to normal. We were saddened to hear the news of Roy "Shag Daddy" Childress as many of his friends began to share their memories throughout social media pages. We send our condolences to the Childress family, the shag community and to his friends. Once service information has been shared we will be sure to update you with that information. In a post shared on the Burlington Shag Club page, his family wrote: "Dad spend his last hours doing what he loved. He loved his shag family and you all loved our "Shag Daddy" And we thank you all for that."

We send our prayers to the Recollections Band and the family of Greg Purvis. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 24, 2020 they announce that Greg had passed away and also included his obituary (seen below). Their post included: " Greg was an original member of The Recollections Band and his guitar and vocals were a driving force of our sound. Our band family has lost a member and musician but more importantly, we have lost a brother and friend." We've included their original post below and we offer our condolences to the family and to the Recollections family at this time.

The Carolina Beach Music Academy announced the extension of their membership deadline. You're in luck if you missed the deadline because according to their Facebook post, this is the first time they've extended the deadline after announcing the nominations. You have until this Friday, September 25, 2020 to visit their website and join. Membership Levels: You will find the difference between the two levels on the CBMA Website where you can sign up today! The nomination process has been completed but if you'd like to be able to vote for your favorite nominee, you'll need to be a member of the academy. In a post earlier today the Feature Attraction Band announced on their Facebok page the addition of their newest member, James Snead on bass guitar. The post from their website states: "We'd like to officially welcome our newest member, Mr. James Snead from South Hill, Virginia on bass guitar. James started playing bass by ear at the age of eleven and even studied saxophone in school. Coming from a talented musical family, it comes natural to James and we're happy to have him join us. If you're planning on coming to the (boat only) "Beach Music on Buggs" event on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Clarksville, Virginia, that will be his debut performance as a member of FAB.Welcome James, we're looking forward to the good times to come!"
