Community Mourns the loss of Phil Laughlin
Sunday, October 04 2020

We'd like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the family of Phil Laughlin and also to the Rick Strickland Band. In a post earlier this evening the band posted the following: " It is with great sadness to share that our long time friend, RSB guitarist and the best RSB Chaplin we've ever had, Phil Laughlin, passed away today at 3pm. But we rejoice knowing that right now he is with Jesus and is perfectly healed. Heaven has surely gained a true angel, and one heck of a guitar player. We will miss you terribly Phil. Please join us in lifting his wife Sherry and their family in your prayers today and in the coming days. Last week, Rick & I visited with Phil & Sherry, and I asked him what was his favorite performance he'd ever played. He said last year with us at the 2019 Cammys. This photo is from that performance."

We've included the band's original post below and to read the obituary and for service information please visit: Omega Funeral Service

Ben Brown Multimedia and our own Casey Meyer produced this video shortly before the whole world shut down. Up until now there hasn't seemed to be an appropriate time to share it. Due to the pandemic, we miss seeing a lot of our Coastline Crazies, but we look forward to many many more years of Coastline Time!"

We teamed up with the Cindy Hite Memorial Golf Tournament last year and what a success it was and we're back and ready to do it again this year. With COVID, the 2020 event will be a little different but they've come up with some unique ideas. Read below about the organizers, the charity and the cause and you will find other links to their website, raffle information etc.

Who is MCCA?
Mecklenburg County Cancer Association (MCCA) has a mission to provide a channel through which the generosity of county residents, businesses and others, can financially assist cancer patients within Mecklenburg County in their efforts to combat cancer.

Their Goal:

As a local organization, MCCA has been able to provide over $500,000 of direct financial assistance to Mecklenburg County Residents.

We want to assist them in continuing to do so.

Their History:
Since its creation in 2013, The Cindy Hite Memorial Golf Tournament has raised over $260,000 that has been given to MCCA to help local residents. We want to continue to support MCCA in any way possible.

Roy
Thursday, September 24 2020

We were saddened to hear the news of  Roy "Shag Daddy" Childress as many of his friends began to share their memories throughout social media pages. We send our condolences to the Childress family, the shag community and to his friends. Once service information has been shared we will be sure to update you with that information. In a post shared on the Burlington Shag Club page, his family wrote: "Dad spend his last hours doing what he loved. He loved his shag family and you all loved our "Shag Daddy" And we thank you all for that."
