On December 29, 2021, Mike Worley announced his departure from WVCO 94.9 FM The Surf. We'd like to wish Mike all of the best and we'll certainly miss hearing him on The Surf but we also look forward to what he has planned in the future. We've included his original post below; Text from original post:
"As you may have heard, today was my final broadcast on the Surf. The time has come for me to move back to NC to be closer to my family, which I’m looking forward to I really appreciate the support from each of you and for allowing me to be a part of your day over the past 5 years. There have been some great times which make for great memories that I’ll always cherish.I would like to thank the Worleys for the opportunity to come on board and allow me to share my love and passion for music as well as work with some of the best radio jocks in the business. It has been an absolute pleasure working with the “real Jim Morgan”, and the Professor. They are true professionals and masters of their craft. I would also like to thank Todd and Kathy Bennington for keeping me well fed each week during the weekly Covered Disc Lunch segment.To my Surf Central gang (Emerson, Cousin Jesse and Uncle Phil) you guys are the best. I appreciate your enthusiasm and most of all your support in keeping it LOUD and PROUD! While I’ll no longer be on the Surf, I will continue to be involved in the industry. With that said, I would like to say thank you again for being on the EDGE and keeping it LOUD and PROUD! I look forward to seeing you down the road and #longlivebeachmusic"

Last year we posted a video of David and Madison Snead and their version of Mariah Carey's release "Jesus Oh What a Wonderful Child" and we received great feedback on the song and video. David is guitarist and vocalist with JB and the Get Down Browns and he and his daughter have released another Christmas song for 2021. The song has been added in rotation on Flip Flop Live Radio so be sure to listen for it daily on our mobile app and on the Flip Flop Live Radio website. At an event on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Steppin' Out Shag Club celebrated thirty years! The event included a certificate presented by SOS Board Chairman Ronnie Gregory, a host of DJ's including George Dunn, Dane Joyce, Kenny Loftis, Ron Russ, and Bobby Snyder. Steppin' Out President Doris Keaton shared this information along with a special message of thanks that stated: "This shag club is very dear to my heart and I am so proud of each of you. We have been fortunate to find a new home at Pennrose Park Country Club. Thanks to our members for supporting our new venue and for the guests of Pennrose Park Country Club and members of surrounding shag clubs and guests coming out with their support!" On December 2, 2021, Deb Browning hosted a release party for her new CD, "Here Comes Christmas". Emcees for the event were Eric Bowman and Ray Scott and the single "All Over the World" premiered Saturday, December 4, 2021 during the WAVE countdown on WDZD 99.1FM along with a video that can be seen below. From her website: "Hard copies of the CD will be available at her CD Release Party at Fat Harold’s on December 2nd, 7:00 – 9:00 and at Southern Threads on Main, located at 653 Main Street, North Myrtle Beach, SC. Recently the Castaways received great news as Karen Clayton was voted 2021 Female Vocalist of the Year by the Carolina Beach Music Academy and they also have another reason to celebrate. On Sunday, December 5, 2021 the band will celebrate sixty years and a special event will take place at Roxboro Moose Lodge in Roxboro, North Carolina. In a recent social media post the band said they hoped to see a lot of the former members that they call "Castawuz". The doors will open at 2:00PM and music from 3:00PM until 7:00PM and there will be a $5.00 admission fee that will be donated to local charities. Mike Brooks and Big Allan D. from Carolina Ocean Drive on WLUS 98.3FM will be on location broadcasting from 3:00PM until 7:00PM. Light food and and drinks will be available for purchase along with Castaway's merchandise. The address for the event is: 480 Burlington Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27573. DJ John Hall of "Johnny's Jukebox" announced on November 15, 2021 that he would be making the move from Riptide Radio to Jukin' Oldies. According to his post they're shooting for a start date in early December however since making that announcement John has already made a couple of appearances on their platform. John will continue his Sunday show as he will be featured between "John Williford’s Sunday Afternoon Shag Party and Bone’s Boogie Blues and Shagging’ Oldies Show. It was also announced on November 23, 2021 that he will begin his new Saturday evening show from 7:00PM until 10:00PM for John Hall's Catfish Cafe & more.
