Greetings Shaggers,

Well, it is done ....2020 has been kicked to the curb and 2021 arrived full of hope. If your holidays were anything like mine, 12:01 am on January 1st was my highlight. 2020 was a very quiet and lonely time, but hopefully safe for all. We now have this upcoming year to look forward to with gusto. Let's all wish for a brighter year and look forward to safely dancing again.

After receiving notice from ACSC that the club's 2020 dues would be rolled over to 2021,our Board voted to do the same with our membership dues. If you paid your 2020 membership dues then you are paid in full for 2021. It is with great anticipation that we look forward to resume our gatherings in 2021, re new our friendships and "learn to dance" again.

Our Christmas Project for the Kennedy Home for Children was more than successful. Liz delivered $30 girt cards to each child (20) and we sent money for food. We received a number of Thank You Cards (many were hand made) and I thought it would be nice to share several with you:
"Thank you for the gift cards. We are very grateful. We hope your holidays were blessed, With love, A D Cottage." “Thank you for the gift cards. You warm all our hearts. Now we can buy something. God Bless you!" "Thank you for thinking about us! We love you! Happy New Year !" Thank you RSC members for being so giving and adding some joy to these children.Wishing all a Happy New Year, safe travels and bright futures onthe horizon. Please remember those who have lost loved ones or have had personal experiences with Covid-19. We are family and we will get through this together.

Support Your Shaggers
Wednesday, January 06 2021

2020 was a year like no other and many areas of the Beach Music Industry have suffered through COVID. We enjoy watching the various bands and artists go live on the many social media platforms and those supporting their efforts. One area that also needs support is the shag community! Do you have a shag club nearby and if so have you considered joining? If you're new to learning to shag, you can find videos online as well as lessons being offered right on your PC or mobile device by the various awesome instructors. Maybe you'd like to simply brush up on your skills and now would be a great time!

If you're looking for a club or maybe even possible events in your area, you can find a listing on our website and the Flip Flop Live mobile app but another excellent resource is the official Society of Stranders website. You can search for clubs, read the news and also be sure to check out the 2020 Fall and Winter SOS Carefree Times located on their homepage.

Image Property of the Society of Shaggers

The venues that the shag clubs frequent for their events are also hurting so be sure to stop by their websites, social media pages and if they're open for business let them know how much you love the shag events hosted at their locations. There are a lot of inner working parts of the industry and we all need to support where we can and just know we'll get back to doing what we love sooner or later and when we do, it will surely be one BIG family reunion.

Every area of our indsutry is important to keeping the lifestyle alive especially now. Continue to support your bands, artists, venues, radio and DJ professionals by sharing their posts, listening, requesting and purchasing their music and merchandise. If you're a shag club or shag instructor and you'd like us to share your upcoming events, videos or information, please send us an email or contact us through Facebook messenger. We want to make sure everyone is included and featured here on your number one source for "Everything Beach Music".

We have lost a great friend, talented musician and a band brother.Mike was not only a great musician, but a loving husband and father. We all are in total shock this morning, but knowing he is in the loving arms of Jesus and celebrating with Him on His birthday helps to bring comfort. Please keep Mike’s family and our band family in your prayers."

From Steve Owen's and Summertime's Facebook Page:
" The first Carolina Beach music band I was ever a part of was the HIGH ROLLER BAND .. and the first Sax player I ever shared the stage with was this man ... Mike Ezzell .. in the early hours of yesterday morning Mike went to be with the lord. He will be remembered not only for the great music he made but also his fun wit and laid back personality. Mike has played and filled in with many bands over the years including Mixed Emotion, Delta Riders, High Roller Band, Ricky Godfrey Band , Ginger Thompson Band , and most recently East Coast R &B band .. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike’s family and many friends during this difficult time. Rest Easy Mike !"
