Next week, many will be headed towards N. Myrtle Beach to take part in the 31st Annual DJ Throwdown presented by the Association of Beach and Shag Club DJs. The event will be held March 3rd, 4th and 5th at Fat Harold's Beach Club. This will be a free event! In a recent post, the ABSCDJs stated: "This is a 3 day event in Ocean Drive beach and is dedicated 100% to preserving the origins of the Shag. We will be going back to basics with 2 afternoons (11 hours) of Vinyl music! There will be 70+ DJs playing all of your favorite songs by the original artists! The Beach Music DJ Hall of Fame inductions will occur on Friday night, Shag lessons with Mandy Holt and River Harmon on Saturday morning and FREE FOOD on Saturday afternoon. We hope to see you in the Fat Man's House!"

On February 15, 2022 WIZS radio announced on their website the Granville North Carolina Chamber of Commerce had released their 2022 band schedule for the Alive After Five series. The article noted: "The 2022 season kicks off Thursday, April 28 in downtown Oxford when the Carolina Soul Band comes to town. Downtown Creedmoor will host The Pizazz Band at the second concert on Thursday, June 9 and the final concert of the series will be Thursday, Sept. 22 back in downtown Oxford. The band will be announced at a later date, according to Chamber Executive Director Lauren Roberson." On Friday, February 11, 2022 the South Hill, Virginia Chamber of Commerce announced their 2022 lineup for their "Concerts in the Park" series held annually at Centennial Park. As in years past, you certainly don't want to miss the entertainment scheduled and admission for each event is only $5.00 per person. The outdoor event features live music, a large dance area in front of their amphitheater along with food and beverage vendors. The bands for 2022 include: April 1, 2022 - Band of Oz

On February 5, 2022, Gary Alexander released a new single, "You're the One I've Been Dreaming of" and it's currently available on all of the major streaming platforms and available for purchase for $0.99. The Junior Shag Association provided an update for the upcoming Junior SOS event in July 2022. The update reads: "The Junior Shag Association is actively planning for this year’s Junior SOS. We are excited to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the largest junior dance event in the world! The 2022 dates for Junior SOS are July 12-17th. In order to honor the history and traditions of our past, we must thoughtfully prepare for the future. To set up all generations for success, The Board will finalize this year’s Junior SOS plans under the guidance of the most up-to-date healthcare standards. The format (in person or virtual) will be announced in April. If we are able to have an in-person event, the OD Beach and Golf resort will be our host for this week-long event. Please follow our social media for the most up-to-date information and announcements." On Sunday, February 6, 2022, Mark Black shared that he would be releasing his new single "Let Me Make Love to You" on Saturday, February 12, 2022. You will have two chances to hear it on Beach Music radio Saturday morning. Your first chance will be with Justin Rouse around 10:40AM during his show "On the Boardwalk" on Beach, Boogie and Blues. and then again with Eric Bowman on his show around 11:30AM on WDZD The Wave countdown. Late Friday, February 4, 2022, the Coastal Shag Club announced the closure of their club. Reason for the closure was stated because members were asked "to take positions on the Executive Board, but we have not had one volunteer for any position." The post stated the club is no longer in compliance of their by-laws and following the requirements of the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs (ACSC). We're so sorry to post this news because we love to hear when organzations within the industry are growing and thriving.
