Shag Kids Docu-Series
Monday, August 31 2020

All content property of WJTZ Media

We love watching the younger generations carry on the tradition of Beach Music and of course that includes shaggin'. Since July, new episodes of the #ShagKids "docu-series" were made available every Friday on the ShagKids website. According to the site, "This documentary was produced and privately funded by TJ and Wendy Zito with WJTZ Media of Birmingham, Al.  TJ and Wendy are PHD Communications students at Liberty University and have been involved in the couples dance scene together for 20 years in swing, ballroom, and hustle. WJTZ Media produces unique video projects for education, charity, and other business purposes.  They have attended Jr SOS for the past 9 years with their son, Jay, and have enjoyed all the positives that Carolina Shag brings to a family.  TJ and Wendy have been married since 2004 and are regulars on and off the floor at USA Grand Nationals in Atlanta, Ga every Memorial Day weekend."

Check out their videos below and be sure to visit their website at: www.ShagKids.com and show them your support along with the creators at WJTZ Media Productions. They have two additional webisodes to come so be sure to bookmark their website for the remaining videos.

New Release from Chadwick Station
Saturday, August 22 2020

August 22, 2020

Have you heard the brand new single from Chadwick Station? A British band that relocated to Nashville and they describe their sound as: " Brit pop, R&B, rock, a little country." We were approached several weeks ago for our thoughts on the song and how we thought it would do in the Beach Music community. It certainly has a 70's flair to it and of course we love to hear any song with brass! For any Beach Music DJ, if you don't have a copy of the song let us know and we can get that to you. Recorded in Nashville and mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London and we've already heard it on several stations/shows in North Carolina. The song is also available on Spotify and Apple Music.

In the press release on their website they talk about their new single, "Cryin' (Ain't Gonna Win Her Back). Pure retro R&B. Like The Sound of Philadelphia, or Stax out of Memphis back in the day. The folks in the Carolinas call it beach music. Contagious bass. Rhythmic drums. Dirty horns. Makes you want to dance. It's like you jumped in a hot tub time machine." You can hear the song during our live remote on Flip Flop Live Radio this afternoon (Saturday, August 22, 2020) from 4-7PM by streaming the show from our website or the Live365 app. You can also watch the music video below.

Happy National Radio Day
Thursday, August 20 2020

August 20, 2020

Happy National Radio Day from Flip Flop Live!
While it's not a nationally sanctioned holiday, we love to celebrate the invention of the radio on August 20th each year. What would the world be like without Radio? It brought us closer together as a nation including use in government operations, news and music distribution and many other uses that are widely used today. Celebrate radio each and every day because we certainly do!

Think about the careers that were made possible throughout the radio industry and what about the fame some achieved in the early days while families sat around listening to radio programs. Not only should we celebrate the radio itself but support your favorite DJ's, the stations and the sponsors who help keep these stations on the air. You can't have one without the other and these talented guys and gals keep the music playing twenty-four hours a day for our enjoyment. Certainly technology has advanced where we now have satellite and internet radio and while they may not transmit across the same airwaves, they still derive from the original radio and they have become part of our everyday lives.

Thank you to all of our DJ friends, station owners and sponsors! If you'd like to discover new shows, stations and DJ's be sure to check the radio schedule on our homepage and also our DJ and Radio listing pages and connect with new friends.

SOS Fall Migration Canceled
Monday, August 03 2020

The following information was shared on the Society of Stranders website. SOS logo property of the Society of Stranders

August 3, 2020

   Fellow Stranders,
It is with great disappointment the ACSC/SOS Board announces Fall Migration 2020 is officially cancelled. All reasoning and thought could not find a way to go forward with our SOS event. Each SOS member’s safety and health are first and foremost in making this decision.

On August 3rd the two SOS clubs, Fat Harold’s and Ducks, will re-open after being closed. The Governor’s new mandate states that these establishments (bars/restaurants) can only have 50% occupancy bases on fire marshals rating. No occupant standing or congregating in or at the bar area. Masks are required when entering the club / restaurant, must maintain safe distancing. Dancing is allowed but must wear mask and maintain social distancing. These are just a few of the restrictions that would be impossible to control at an SOS event.

Horry County is still a hot spot for the covid-19 virus. If SOS took place in September, there would be no way to control the crowd or the conditions around the events of Fall Migration. The decision made by the ACSC/SOS Board was based on your personal safety and health.
In appreciation of our SOS members, SOS will honor your 2020 SOS membership card through February 1, 2021. If you purchased a 2020 SOS membership earlier in the year, thank you. The SOS membership cards will be on sale through all the usual outlets.

Any questions can be answered by
any of the ACSC/SOS Board Members.
